Health Campaigns Together SOLIDARITY RALLY to support Bradford Hospital strikers
BRADFORD DISTRICT HOSPITAL
Bradford BD9 6RJ
After 3 weeks of strike action, the UNISON members at Bradford District Hospital have voted for indefinite strike action in opposition to the Trust's plans to transfer ALL ancillary and support staff into a wholly owned subsidiary company (WOSC).
The strike begins on Monday 26th August from 6am onwards. This strike has now assumed huge importance.
The government plan to allow NHS trusts to begin breaking up the NHS workforce into privatised segments is very quickly unravelling. These plans have already been pushed back in most Trusts thanks to determined union resistance. A victory for the Bradford strikers will see the whole mad scheme thrown in the bin.
The picket lines have been very well supported from Day One. The strikers are united determined and confident but they need our support for this next critical stage of the dispute.
Health Campaigns Together is calling on all our supporters and affiliates to join the solidarity rally on the first day of the strike. We need banners, messages of support and your banners and placards. We are appealing to you all to make the special effort to join us: the NHS is not for saleReport on the dispute in the i newspaper

Mental Health Crisis Summit
Royal Free Hospital School Of Medicine
Rowland Hill Street
London NW3 2PF
A one-day conference on the crisis in mental health and what must be done to stop it
There is a crisis in mental health services in the UK. It's time to act
Almost 7000 mental health nurses were lost from 2009 to 2018. Meanwhile, the number of doctors in specialist psychiatric training fell by 20%, and beds available for patients with serious mental health issues fell by over 8000.
That's why we're holding a one-day conference in September this year to take a closer look at the mental health crisis - what's driving it, how government decisions have let it worsen over time, and what action we can take to set things right.
Hosted by Health Campaigns Together, Keep Our NHS Public and Mental Health Time For Action
Tickets: Unwaged/Low Pension: £5.00 Standard: £10.00 Solidarity: £20.00
If you’re having difficulty paying and would still like to attend, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can sort out a free ticket

Special showing of Under The Knife film
Royal Spa Centre Cinema
A chance for health workers and campaigners to see the new feature-length documentary - UNDER THE KNIFE - a film that uncovers the systematic dismantling of the NHS in England through cuts, closures, underfunding and privatisation.
This showing is sponsored by Unite West Midlands Ambulance Branch, so entry is FREE.
Award-winning film director Ken Loach says:
"UNDER THE KNIFE shows the vital importance of the NHS to society and exposes the dark threats facing it. But most important of all, the film gives hope to those who are campaigning to keep the NHS safe for our children. You just have to see it"More on the film and the crowdfunder appeal
